From tgroup.co to Cync³
Evolving for the future of supply chain and logistics
For over 15 years, tgroup.co has been a trusted name in supply chain and logistics consulting. Founded in 2007, the business grew from a single consultancy into a powerhouse of operational expertise, working with some of Australia’s leading retailers, 3PLs, and manufacturers. But as our business evolved, it became clear that our name and brand needed to evolve with it.
Today, we are Cync³. A new identity that reflects our commitment to clear, strategic, and execution-focused solutions in supply chain, logistics, and operations.
Why the Change?
While tgroup.co has built a strong reputation, the name itself no longer represented the scale of our transformations or services. Many in the industry weren’t sure what “T Group” stood for or the experience of the team behind it, so it was time for a shift.
The decision to rebrand wasn’t just about aesthetics, it was about positioning ourselves for growth. As we move toward a more structured approach to client engagement, retained consulting, and new service offerings (including expanded data and inventory management capabilities), we needed a brand that better reflected our expertise, problem-solving approach, and future ambitions.
Our History & Evolution
Our story started in 2007, when our founder, Jon Northorpe established what was then called “The Thought Group.” Over the years, we shortened it to tgroup.co and now operate as Cync³, focusing on supply chain strategy, logistics execution, and operational transformation.
Some key milestones in the tgroup.co journey:
2009
David McGuire joins tgroup.co, bringing broad operational expertise across all supply chain sectors.
2010s
tgroup.co established a reputation for solving complex logistics and supply chain challenges, securing major clients like Mecca, Catch, and Country Road.
2020s
tgroup.co expands services to include warehouse automation, retained consulting, and interim operations management for businesses undergoing major transformation.
2025
The need for a stronger brand presence became clear, leading to the launch of Cync³.
What does Cync³ stand for?
The new name reflects our strategic, pragmatic, and execution-driven approach to supply chain consulting.
“Cync” represents the way we synchronise and optimise logistics and operations, ensuring everything runs efficiently.
The “³” (cubed) element symbolises the three key areas we excel in: strategy, execution, and transformation.
The symbolism of the cube.
The cube element in the Cync³ branding can be linked to logistics, warehousing, and supply chain in several meaningful ways.
Cube Utilisation (Cubing Out vs. Weighing Out)
In logistics, “cubing out” refers to filling a container or trailer based on its volume capacity before reaching its weight limit. “Weighing out” happens when the weight limit is reached before volume is fully used. Optimising cube utilisation is critical for reducing transportation costs and improving efficiency.
Warehouse Cube Optimisation
Efficient cubic storage minimises wasted space, improves picking speeds, and enhances overall operational efficiency.
Cubic Measurement in Freight & Shipping
Freight is often priced based on cubic weight (dimensional weight) rather than actual weight. Airfreight, courier, and LTL (less-than-truckload) carriers use cubic measurement to charge for space occupied rather than just the physical weight.
Cartonisation & Cubing Algorithms
Software algorithms determine the most space efficient way to pack cartons, pallets, and containers. Cubing logic is built into WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) to ensure cost-effective packaging and shipping.
Cubic Racking & Storage Systems
High density storage solutions such as AS/RS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems), cube based robotic picking systems (e.g., AutoStore), and deep lane storage maximise cubic space. Modern warehouses optimise cubic storage to handle higher volumes within smaller footprints.
Cube Based Automated Warehousing
AutoStore uses a cube based storage system where robots retrieve bins stacked within a cubic grid. Shuttle systems move goods within a warehouse based on cubic space allocation. Cubic automation maximises storage density while maintaining high-speed retrieval.
3D Cubic Modelling in Supply Chain Planning
Simulation software uses cubic volume modelling to plan warehouse layouts, vehicle loading, and network optimisation. Digital twin technology relies on cubic modelling to test and refine supply chain strategies.
Cube Based Load Planning for Transport & Distribution
Logistics planners use cubing software to efficiently fill trucks, containers, and air cargo units based on dimensional constraints. Proper load cubing minimises empty space, reduces fuel costs, and improves sustainability.
What’s changing?
Same Trusted Team
Our leadership, including Jon Northorpe and David McGuire, remains the same.
Same Expertise
We continue to offer deep operational experience across 3PL, retail, pharma, and beyond.
Same Hands-On Approach
We don’t just advise; we execute, ensuring real results for our clients.
New Brand & Digital Presence
Thanks to the team at Soto Group Creative Agency with our move from tgroup.co to Cync³ we have a stronger, clearer identity that makes it easier for businesses to find us and understand how we help.
Expanded Offerings
Greater focus on retained consulting, data management, and automation advisory services.
The cube
In logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management, efficiency is measured in space, movement, and precision. The cube is at its core.
From cube utilisation in freight to warehouse storage density, the way businesses manage cubic space directly impacts cost, speed, and sustainability. Cubing algorithms determine optimal packing, cube-based automation drives the future of warehousing, and every truck, container, package and shelf is a carefully engineered system of cubic optimisation.
The cube also symbolises structure, reliability, and balance – qualities that define the Cync³ approach. Just as supply chains require rigid precision yet flexible adaptability, the cube represents stability and strength, but also infinite possibilities when configured correctly.
What This Means for Our Clients
If you’re already working with us, rest assured it’s business as usual, only better.
Our rebrand to Cync³ doesn’t change our team, our values, or our commitment to delivering execution driven results. You’ll still work with the same experienced consultants you know and trust. The projects we’re delivering, the quality of our work, and our high touch approach remain unchanged.
What is changing is our focus on making it even easier for you to engage with us. A clearer brand, improved digital tools, and a more structured consulting model mean faster onboarding, better visibility across your projects, and more integrated support whether you’re solving today’s bottlenecks or planning for long-term growth.
If you’re exploring automation, dealing with data headaches, or simply need a more strategic partner in your corner, Cync³ is built to help you move with clarity and confidence.
Moving Forward Together
We’ve never been about doing things the traditional way. From day one of tgroup.co, we’ve built our business on trust, action, and results – Cync³ is a reflection of that DNA, sharpened for what’s next.
We’re excited for this next chapter and grateful to our clients and partners who have grown with us. If you have any questions about the tgroup.co rebrand or want to know more about our expanded capabilities, don’t hesitate to reach out.
